I can bang on about this for ages. It really is one of my favourite objects in the world. The shape, size engineering and graphic design combine to produce what is I think the most perfectly designed object in my house. Why is that?

Vaseline Tin - a classic

1) It’s simple. No feature-creep, no extraneous marketing tie-ins, no extra ingredients to the actual Vaseline.

2) It feels right in my hand. It just fits perfectly and feels like a well-worn pebble from your favourite beach.

3) It absolutely works. The lid doesn’t come off in a bag, but my soon-to-be-four year old can work it just fine. That is some lovely engineering.

4) It’s beautiful – I can look at it for hours; the curve of the tin, the lines. If I slightly dent one, I have to buy another. Luckily 99p isn’t going to break the bank.

5) The graphic design work – Appears innocuous, but the main split between blue and white is not symmetrical. Neither is it the classic “thirds”. It’s simply a little bigger to accommodate the logo, and makes no apologies. Just too cool.
